What about Riots Mom?

Posted: August 27, 2014 in Uncategorized

The road to change runs right thru small town America… I was recently on a retreat with My wife and some friends and upon exiting a Kmart was met with the site of a little white boy who had never seen a real life Black Man… His back pedaling, and staring half in fear half in awe was funny. I forgot they still exist. (the places I mean)
A riot happens when the people feel so oppressed that they lose fear of legal reprisal and take to the streets in a blindly violent way. Its the last two adjectives…blind and violent, that cause this way of responding to be ineffective for lasting positive change. The people in America have a right to peaceful assembly. Although they do not have the right to impede the conduct of daily business, if they have enough citizens engaged in peaceful protest, impeding business is labeled “civil disobedience” and they usually are left alone. What we need to highlight is peaceful civil disobedience V. blind violence. In Ferguson, for example which is just one of the many many times people have marched to protest something egregious, the people took to the streets because they thought a child was killed by a policeman..unjustly. Some of the oppressed people took advantage of the police department’s relatively small size and broke into stores around the city to steal things they otherwise could not afford to buy knowing the police could never catch them all. The damage they did cost the city Millions of dollars and made some of the Wealthy people very angry. By all accounts, most protesters were not violent, were not stealing, were not a threat to person or property and the City, meaning the leaders and employees of government, responded as best they could with the training and personnel they had available. Unfortunately, their response was violent and violative of the trust that needs to exist between City and Citizen. The response showed the Citizens how afraid and distrusting the City really is of them.
What the young should know: This Ferguson incident is a modern repeat of history’s desperate calls for justice that will continue in our country and the world until Injustice longer exist. It highlights what looms large over all cities in America…the specter of class Warfare.
What is class warfare? When Greedy people make a fortune from the misery of poor people they always know there is a chance of the poor rising up and taking everything back. This causes the Greedy to create safe guards like strict laws, prejudiced police departments and local military units to protect them just in case. They also create distractions like TV, Video games and The Lottery to keep people from asking uncomfortable questions. Usually the Greedy can manage their tools and keep the oppressed quiet; masking the oppression and giving the poorest citizens just the right mix of false hope and distraction for them to survive and be quiet, but every once in a while the balance shifts, the mask is lost and the ugly face of oppression is revealed.
Where are we? Children need to feel safe, they need to know you have a plan to make them safe and a brief outline of what you plan should include the following:
Balance: We are gonna have enough to be neither poor nor greedy… here’s how…
Righteousness: We believe in helping your fellow man as long as it doesn’t hurt us too bad..for example…
Cautious Optimism: We think things are going to get better but we are preparing mentally and physically in case they get worse…. here’s how…
Destiny: Whatever is ours, we will be strong enough to achieve it, accept it, and Grow from it…for example…
Love Y’all mannnnnn
